Arvind Magan, the CEO of Arvind Magan and Associates, runs a thriving firm in Umhlanga, Durban. They offer services like accounting, auditing, tax advising, and business consulting. Arvind was born in Durban to first-generation South African parents and faced some tough challenges growing up. His dad, part of the last group of Indian immigrants, worked super hard to support the family and always stressed the importance of education. Arvind went to Gandhi Desai High School, got his bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Durban-Westville, and then earned an honors degree from UNISA while working. In 1992, he became a chartered accountant and auditor, kicking off his career at Ernst & Whinney (now EY) in Durban.
He started his own firm 21 years ago with just one client and has grown it to serve some of the biggest companies in KwaZulu-Natal. Arvind is all about ethics, integrity, and excellence, aiming to leave a legacy of trust. His dad’s advice about keeping integrity and a good reputation has been his guiding light. Arvind believes perseverance, building strong relationships, and sticking to solid ethics are the keys to success. He encourages open communication and professional growth within his team, seeing leadership as a form of mentorship.
Arvind is passionate about entrepreneurship and dreams of a booming KwaZulu-Natal economy fueled by innovation and job creation. As the chairman of the Joseph Business School in Durban, he supports budding entrepreneurs, believing they are vital for South Africa’s economic future. Inspired by his faith, Arvind aims for more than just financial success; he wants to make a positive impact on his community.
