Entries for the annual Standard Bank KZN Top Business Awards, which is one of the highlights of the province’s business calendar, are currently flowing in.

Nominations of the various participants have been made through Chambers of Business, CEOs, employees and clients of companies and organisations around KwaZulu-Natal. Being nominated as a top business is an important achievement, because it means that the organisation is worthy of recognition.

Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing the nominees in the categories that they have entered.

SLG is an active and important economic role player, contributing to good corporate citizenship and CSI initiatives, and engaging with independent power producers and other stakeholders that play a vital role in supporting the South African energy and manufacturing economy.

SLG and SLCNG have also undertaken numerous Socio-Economic Development (SED) initiatives with the aim of uplifting local communities based on the following key objectives:

• Fostering collaboration and partnering opportunities with the company’s stakeholders

•Enhancing the social and economic wellbeing of local communities by supporting local

education and skills enhancement programmes, small-business development, and job

creation projects, and through investing in education development

• Leading by example in establishing SED best practices in the energy industry.
