Managing Director and Shareholder of Rising Sun Printers

Beverley Ebrahim is the managing director and shareholder of Rising Sun Printers. Established in 1999, the company is a proudly South African enterprise with offices in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and Bloemfontein. “Since joining the business in 2006, I have worked across various roles, from administration to operations, and in 2017 I was honoured to be promoted to managing director,” she explains.

Today, Rising Sun Printers serves a wide range of clients throughout South Africa and across its borders, offering high-quality printing and publishing services. For Beverley, leadership was not something handed to
her. “It has been a journey of growth, hard work, and staying open to learning,” she reflects. “I started in an
administrative role, but I always paid attention to the business and looked for ways to contribute beyond my
position. Over the years, I gained experience in different areas of the company, and when the opportunity came to step into a leadership role, I was ready for it.”

BUILDING A LEGACY
At the heart of Beverley’s career has been a clear and unwavering dream to make a meaningful impact, not
just in business, but in people’s lives. She shares, “I wanted to grow into a strong leader, build something
that would last, and create opportunities for others along the way.”

Her inspiration has been deeply rooted in faith, mentorship, and family. “First and foremost, I am deeply grateful to God, whose guidance and grace have provided me with strength, clarity, and resilience
throughout my journey. I’m also deeply inspired by our visionary CEO, Mr Vijay Maharaj, whose exemplary
leadership, wisdom, and integrity have not only shaped our organisation’s success but also profoundly
influenced my own leadership philosophy. To my loving family, I’m forever grateful for your unwavering
support, encouragement, and sacrifices – you’ve been my rock, motivating me to strive for excellence in all
aspects of my life. Additionally, I draw inspiration from resilient women in business and from individuals in our communities who continue to rise above challenges with strength and determination.”

This mindset has helped her shape a company culture that values both people and performance. Rising Sun
Printers has become known for its reliability, innovation, and high standards of service. “I have helped take
the business to the next level by expanding into new regions, streamlining our operations, and building a
strong, motivated team,” she says. “I have worked hard to ensure that Rising Sun Printers is known not only
for quality work, but also for our professionalism and reliability, ensuring that our clients are able to grow
their businesses as a result of our quick and efficient turnaround time.”

EMBRACING GROWTH
Beverley’s professional journey has had its challenges. “There have been many, from proving myself in a male-dominated industry to navigating economic challenges and industry shifts,” she explains. “One of the toughest times was during the Covid-19 pandemic, when we had to adapt quickly just to stay afloat. But those challenges taught me resilience, and they helped us grow stronger as a business.”

Her leadership during such difficult times has been a testament to her ability to stay composed and
focused under pressure. Rather than seeing obstacles as setbacks, Beverley views them as opportunities
to grow. “Adversity has a way of revealing what you are capable of,” she reflects. “Each challenge has taught
me something valuable about leadership, people, and perseverance.”

One of her proudest achievements has been her rise from personal assistant to managing director, a journey
that speaks to her dedication and capacity for growth. “Being trusted with leading the business has been a major highlight,” she says. “Another achievement I am proud of is expanding our footprint beyond KwaZulu-Natal. I have also had the privilege of mentoring staff and seeing them grow in their roles, which is incredibly rewarding.”

Her success, however, is never taken for granted. Beverley’s approach is marked by humility and a continuous desire to learn. “You can never stop learning,” she insists. “The printing industry is constantly evolving, and to stay relevant, you must keep innovating. That is what keeps me motivated, knowing there is always more to discover and improve.”

LEAD WITH PURPOSE
Beverley is enthusiastic about empowering the next generation of women leaders. Her advice is: “Never doubt your ability to lead. Stay curious, stay grounded, and seek mentors who will challenge and uplift you. Learn every part of the business, not just your job. And when your time comes, lead with purpose, not ego.”

She encourages young women to start where they are and make the most of every opportunity. “Do not wait to have everything figured out,” she says. “Be willing to learn, be consistent, and do not be afraid to ask questions. You will make mistakes, but that is part of the journey. Keep showing up, believe in yourself, and do not let fear hold you back.”

Looking ahead, Beverley is focused on growing Rising Sun Printers into one of the most trusted and respected printing brands in South Africa. “We have recently expanded our services to include digital and commercial label printing, and I am focused on strengthening our offering to deliver even greater value to our clients.”

While her professional ambitions remain high, Beverley is committed to maintaining balance and perspective. “Balance means being intentional,” she explains. “I make time for my family, my personal well-being, and my faith. I believe that to lead well, you must also rest well. I have learned to delegate, disconnect when needed, and protect the spaces that keep me centred.”

As Beverley looks to the future, her focus remains clear: building a business that not only succeeds commercially but also contributes positively to the lives of others.“I want Rising Sun Printers to be remembered not just for what we produce, but for the values we stand for,” she concludes. “Excellence, integrity, and service are the principles that guide everything we do.”
